23-year old is the first full international to represent Cal United Strikers FC

ORANGE COUNTY, CA – California United Strikers FC is excited to announce the signing of Darwin Lom, a Guatemalan international, who joins the club from Chattanooga FC.

Lom, 23, is a full Guatemalan international who made his debut in 2020. He's the first Cal United Strikers FC player to be a full-fledged international player.

"Darwin has that very rare combination of pure speed and power mixed in with a great touch for finishing and scoring goals," said Head Coach Don Ebert. "Darwin knows where the goal is and goes to that goal and that is a dimension that we felt was needed on our team."

Lom joins a star-studded attacking lineup with the Cal United Strikers FC roster already having goalscoring threats such as Christian Thierjung, Omar Nuño, Shane Kaemerle, and Gustavo Villalobos.

"What really made me come to California was the style of play Cal United had to offer. It was something that really caught my attention," says Lom about his move to Orange County. "Speaking to Don [Ebert] and the conversations we would have - he played as a forward, as well, and what's better than having a coach who played in the same position as you."

Lom made his debut for the Guatemalan National Team in 2020 and immediately made an impact with a couple goals and assists.

"Honestly, to this day, I couldn't really tell you the feeling [of getting called up to the Guatemalan National Team]. Out of everything it was just excitement," Lom recalled after getting the callup.

Assistant Coach Willie Diaz is very excited at the prospect of Lom's impact, "He possesses the ability to take over the the game with his physical and technical attributes."
